Dear clients, fraudsters have become active again. Cybersecurity experts have reported a new method of deception through SMS. Malefactors use SMS bombers (a service for mass messaging) to gain access to users' plastic cards.
Fraudsters operate as follows:
- the victim's phone number is registered several times on 30-40 different SMS bombers. The victim receives about two hundred SMS with registration codes;
- the victim is contacted via messengers like Telegram or Whatsapp and gains trust;
- the victim is persuaded to send a screenshot of the screen with incoming messages, supposedly to help understand the situation.
There can be various schemes - the client is told that a purchase was wrongly processed, a service was paid for incorrectly, or, for instance, that there are issues in the bank and personal data needs urgent alteration.
Once the necessary information is obtained, fraudsters withdraw money from plastic cards.
