Nurbank Continues Early Repayment of State Support

Nurbank Continues Early Repayment of State Support

Nurbank will make an early repayment of another 6.5 billion tenge to the state, received under the Program for Enhancing Financial Stability of the Banking Sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Taking into account the previously returned funds, the total amount of early repaid state support will reach 11 billion tenge.

The Board of Directors of JSC "Nurbank" decided to partially repurchase subordinated bonds issued under the Program for Enhancing Financial Stability of the Banking Sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The bank will repurchase 6.5 million bonds with a nominal value of 1,000 tenge each. The total amount of the early repayment will be 6.5 billion tenge.

This is already the second phase of early repayment by Nurbank of funds received under the state program. In 2025, the bank had already repaid 4.5 billion tenge ahead of schedule. Thus, after the new buyback, the total amount of funds returned to the state early will be 11 billion tenge.

Nurbank received state support in 2020 under the Program for Enhancing Financial Stability of the Banking Sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At that time, the bank issued subordinated bonds totaling 46.8 billion tenge for a term of 15 years. After the first early repayment, the program obligations were reduced to 42.3 billion tenge. Following the upcoming buyback, this will decrease by another 6.5 billion tenge, down to 35.8 billion tenge.

The ability to continue early repayment of state support is due to Nurbank's stable financial position and the positive dynamics of key performance indicators. "Early repayment of state support is a consistent and deliberate decision for Nurbank. The bank's financial results allow us to fulfill obligations to the state ahead of the scheduled time, while maintaining the necessary resources for further development and financing of the economy. We intend to continue this work, while the timing and volume of subsequent phases will be determined based on the financial results and stability of the bank," noted Alexey Majuga, Acting Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Nurbank."

As of August 1, 2026, Nurbank's assets approached 602 billion tenge, having increased by 6.6% or 37.3 billion tenge since the beginning of the year. Business growth is accompanied by the maintenance of the quality of the loan portfolio: the share of non-performing loans (NPL) stands at 4.86%, remaining significantly below the regulatory limit of 10%. The bank's deposit portfolio is also showing positive dynamics. Since the beginning of 2026, its volume increased by 28.6% and as of August 1 reached 424 billion tenge.

Nurbank is currently implementing a new development strategy aimed at further strengthening the financial institution's market positions. Among its key priorities: digital transformation, development of the transactional business and digital solutions, improving operational efficiency, and expanding support for small and medium-sized enterprises. "The new strategy of Nurbank implies a qualitative business development based on financial stability, technologies, and our clients' needs. We intend to strengthen the transactional direction, develop digital services, and expand work with small and medium businesses. It is crucial for us to maintain a balance between growth rates, efficiency, and the bank's stability. Such an approach forms the foundation for both further development of Nurbank and consistent fulfillment of our obligations to the state," emphasized Alexey Majuga.

Nurbank remains committed to the course of early repayment of funds received under state support. The timing and volume of subsequent partial repayments will be determined based on the financial results of the bank, as well as the necessity to maintain sufficient levels of capital and liquidity.
