According to WHO data, approximately 80% of the population is prone to musculoskeletal disorders. When medication does not provide relief and constant pain hinders a full life, it's important not to despair. Medical centers working according to the unique 'kinesitherapy' method of Dr. Sergey Bubnovsky have been helping patients with musculoskeletal conditions return to active life for over 35 years. No "magic pills" are needed here: successful treatment of the spine and joints requires intensive cooperation between the doctor, the instructor, and the patient. During therapy, patients restore health through exercises on special simulators, gymnastics, and hardening. In 2017, the 'Kinesis Uralsk' center opened, operating under Dr. Bubnovsky's method. In an interview for our website, clinic director and rehabilitation physician Timur Ashimov shared insights into the center's activities and how kinesitherapy can assist those with musculoskeletal system disorders.
– In what year did your medical center open?
– The 'Kinesis Uralsk' Medical Center LLC opened in 2017. Its primary focus is on treating patients with musculoskeletal system disorders. We provide effective medical assistance through kinesitherapy, which excludes surgical intervention and medication use. During treatment, we engage the body's reserves through special physical exercises, improving circulation, and promoting natural recovery.
– What requirements did you fulfill to open a clinic under the Bubnovsky franchise?
– Before opening the clinic under the Bubnovsky franchise, we signed a licensing agreement to use Dr. Bubnovsky's proprietary methodology. We selected a suitable premise, equipped it with simulators, hired medical staff and instructors, and arranged training at the Bubnovsky Center in Moscow. After these steps, we launched our center.
– How many years have you worked in medicine? Why did you choose this field?
– Being a doctor is not just a job but my calling. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but eventually got a higher education as a rehabilitation physician at Karaganda State Medical University. After graduating in 2012, I worked for five years as a rehabilitation specialist at the Bubnovsky Center in Karaganda. Concurrently, I taught at the department of Clinical Pharmacology and Evidence-Based Medicine at KSMU for two years. In 2017, I decided to leave teaching and fully dedicate myself to working with people by opening my own center under the Bubnovsky franchise in Uralsk.
– How does kinesitherapy differ from therapeutic physical training (TPT)?
– Translated from Latin, kinesitherapy means 'treatment by movement' and is a more advanced version of therapeutic physical training. In addition to TPT exercises, kinesitherapy involves exercises on specialized equipment and uses high-tech first-generation physiotherapy devices, such as shock-wave therapy machines and high-intensity magnetic and laser therapy devices.
– What types of conditions do patients usually have when they visit the center?
– Most patients come to us with spinal issues such as hernias, protrusions, and osteochondrosis. We also treat many patients who need joint treatment after injuries or post-endoprosthetics of major joints. Our practice includes treating musculoskeletal issues, mainly in children and adolescents with scoliosis and flat feet.
– How many people does your center serve daily?
– The center operates six days a week from 9 AM to 6 PM. On average, we provide rehabilitation services to 50-90 patients per day.
– How is the treatment course organized?
– The entire treatment course consists of three cycles. Each cycle includes 12 sessions. We recommend visiting the center three times a week, allowing a patient to complete one treatment cycle within a month. The duration of treatment depends on the individual patient's health indicators, determined during an initial consultation. If the condition is relatively satisfactory, 1-2 cycles may suffice.
– Share some of the center's most successful cases.
– We've had many interesting cases. For example, this year an 11-year-old patient came to us with a 14-degree spinal curve. After 4 treatment cycles over five months, a follow-up image showed a reduction in the spinal curve to 7 degrees. Thanks to the treatment, the child's posture improved significantly, and back pain decreased.
We also recall a patient with pronounced knee joint arthroses. She underwent three months of preparation for joint replacement with us and received a three-month post-surgery rehabilitation. She now has an excellent range of knee joint motion, and her long-standing limp is gone.
– Are there any contraindications or restrictions for treatment using this method?
– Kinesitherapy virtually has no contraindications and can be practiced by patients from childhood to old age. Individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, and those undergoing joint replacement surgeries can all be treated with this method.
For instance, older patients often have comorbid illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes. We take these into account when crafting treatment plans, ensuring that patients' specific needs are met while avoiding certain exercises.
However, there are contraindications. We do not recommend kinesitherapy for cancer patients. They may only pursue treatment three years post-cancer therapy with written consent from their oncologist.
– What qualifications do your medical staff members have?
– Our staff consists of two experienced rehabilitation physicians and five gym instructors. Instructors have either higher education in physical education and sports or a secondary medical education. All instructors have specialized at training courses held by Bubnovsky Center teachers with Sergey Bubnovsky's involvement.
– How competitive is the musculoskeletal rehabilitation market in Uralsk?
– Muscle rehabilitation has grown significantly over the last 10 years. It's wonderful to see modern centers opening nationwide helping people regain health and live fully. I view competition positively as it drives development.
– What medical equipment is installed at the center?
– We purchased the first set of equipment in 2017 when the center opened and it still functions well with regular maintenance. Given the rise in patient numbers, purchasing additional equipment became necessary. We acquired new modern devices in early 2024 thanks to Nurbank's financial support.
– What equipment did you acquire with Nurbank’s credit, and how do they assist in patient treatment and rehabilitation?
– Our physiotherapy arsenal now includes three new machines purchased through Nurbank's credit line, subsidized by the Damu Fund.
We've added two shock-wave therapy machines used in physiotherapy, rehabilitation, orthopedics, and sports medicine. Additionally, we acquired an electromagnetic stimulator that effectively targets deep nerve centers, peripheral nerves, and the brain and spinal cord inaccessible to other stimulation methods. These machines are already actively used in patient treatment.
We are very pleased with our cooperation with Nurbank. Matters are resolved promptly, and the staff and branch management show high professionalism and are ready to provide necessary information and assist in resolving issues. Nurbank has been a stable and shock-resistant financial institution for over 30 years on the market.
In the future, we intend to develop and expand our clinic and plan to continue collaboration with our reliable partner, Nurbank, for forthcoming projects.
