The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market has given Eldar Sarsenov consent to acquire the status of a major participant in "Nurbank", reports Tengrinews.kz referring to the agency's press service.
"By the resolution of the Board of the Agency for Financial Market Supervision and Regulation,Eldar Sarsenov was granted permission to acquire the status of a major (indirect) participant of JSC "Nurbank". This status allows the acquisition of 100 percent of the stake in LLP JP Finance Group and, accordingly, indirectly purchase 87.87 percent of the total number of issued (excluding preferred and repurchased) shares and/or voting shares of the bank," the statement said.
It is noted that from the moment of the actual acquisition by Eldar Sarsenov of the stake in LLP JP Finance Group and assuming the status of an indirect major participant of the bank, Eldar Sarsenov must leave the position of Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Nurbank".
Eldar Sarsenov is the son of the renowned businessman and owner of "Nurbank" Rashit Sarsenov and has held the position of Chairman of the Management Board of the bank since 2015.
72-year-old Rashit Sarsenov is among the ten richest businessmen in Kazakhstan according to Forbes. His fortune is estimated at 810 million dollars. The businessman owns at least 88 percent of the shares of JSC "Nurbank" (through LLP JPFinance Group LLP and LLP "Casting"), 100 percent of the insurance company "Victoria", LLP "French House BSB" (retail chains "French House", Beautymania, Imperial Home, "Planet of Beauty"), LLP "Oil Real Estate" (management of shopping and entertainment centers), hotel Caspian Riviera, the company producing and selling water Vita, the winery complex Chateau Silk Alley in the Turkestan region, shares in the KSP Steel and "Casting" plants.
In 1987-1988, Rashit Sarsenov worked as the head of a department, deputy minister of higher and secondary specialized education, and in 1988-1992, he was the deputy minister of public education of Kazakhstan.
